Our Process
At NRECA Executive Search, we want to understand your cooperative and what qualifications are needed for success for your next CEO. As the industry and membership needs change, the skillsets needed in our leaders also change. Below is our process for conducting our CEO/GM searches.
Position Understanding
Understanding what you are looking for in your next leader is critical for a successful search. The results from this stage of the search process provide the framework for the rest of the search.
Candidate Generation
After working in collaboration with the board of directors or hiring team to define the qualifications needed for success, we post the position for 6 weeks on cooperative, utility and national job search platforms. All the while, leveraging the informal and formal networks of the NRECA Executive Search team to reach out to active and passive candidates who could be a good fit for your cooperative.
Candidate Screening
The outcome of our in-depth phone interviews and reference checks is a shortlist of candidates who most closely meet your qualifications. Our process is designed to highly focused and intentional so that you have a solid pool from which to chose your finalist candidates.
Interviewing
For executive searches, your NRECA search consultant manages the candidate interview logistics and facilitates the finalist in-person interviews in conjunction with the board.
Post Search
To support the selected candidate's success in their first year, we include a post search consulting option from NRECA Consulting Services.
